Mr. Zook has been directing the operating and investment activities for Newport Property Ventures, the predecessor of MRES and MCM, since 2005. He has acted as a key principal on all investments since 2012 and has over 34 years of real estate operating and investment experience.
He has held senior positions with The Balcor Companies, Dominium Management and Equity Residential. In these positions he oversaw portfolios that exceeded 2 billion dollars in value and totaled over 40,000 units.
During his tenure, Monument Capital Management and its predecessor has acquired 12 properties totaling $90 million. In addition he completed the refinancing of existing debt in excess of 40 million dollars.
Mr. Gato joined MRES in January 2014 as Chief Operating Officer and directs all of the support activities including Accounting, Human Resources, and IT. He is also involved in managing the activities of Monument Multifamily Investors, a $10 million predecessor fund which has purchased $80 million of multifamily properties via JVs since August, 2013.
Prior to joining MRES, Gerardo was CFO for The Adler group in Miami where he managed all finance and accounting activities for 8.5 million square foot commercial real estate portfolio Mr. Gato earned a masters in International Business from Florida International University.
Jackson Harper is Vice President of Asset Management for Monument Real Estate Services. Mr. Harper has over 16 years of experience in various aspects of the real estate industry. He is responsible for overseeing the financial performance of the assets in the MRES portfolio and advises on financing, acquisition, disposition and capital project strategies.
He also manages the MRES insurance program, which provides coverage for the majority of the properties under
MRES management. Prior to joining MRES, Mr. Harper spent 7 years working in the commercial real estate finance division of Gibraltar Bank where he was responsible for analyzing financial data and structuring commercial credit facilities, including multi-family, retail, office, warehouse and construction loans.
J. Roy Reese is Vice President of Investments/Asset Management for Monument Capital Management (MCM) and Monument Real Estate Services (MRES). In this role, he is responsible for originating, researching, underwriting, acquiring, financing, managing and disposing of the firm’s portfolio of properties. Mr. Reese is also charged with creating an investment business plan and asset management strategy, including identifying and implementing additional sources of revenue and value enhancing capital improvement programs, while monitoring the properties’ adherence to operating budget and capital expenditures.
Mr. Reese previously worked as an investment and development analyst for Terranova Corporation, and has more than 20 years of experience in real estate investing, lending, and management, analyzing more than $4 billion in multifamily, retail, and office properties, including underwriting, abstracting leases, structuring waterfalls, securing financing, conducting budget/variance analysis and CAM reconciliation, overseeing lease approvals, negotiating vendor contracts, and preparing closing statements and pre- and post-closing balance sheets.
Mr. Reese earned his bachelor’s degree in finance and accounting from Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania and completed the American Economic Association National Honors Ph.D. Program at Stanford University.
